Lindsey Williams Workshop

Wow, it has been a while. I can’t believe it has been 3 months since I have last blogged. It has been quiet in the blogging hemisphere at SGP but business has been busy. But amongst all this craziness I managed to sneak out and attend a newborn workshop. Many people always ask me if I have a degree in photography. My degree is in management with an emphasis in marketing but I have spent many hours educating myself with classes and mentoring with other more seasoned photographers as well as spend the last 4 years focusing my attention on mainly newborns. End of April I had the chance to mentor with Lindsey Williams in San Antonio. She is a very talented newborn photographer from Oregon that flew down to teach 4 of us ladies in a San Antonio studio.

2 Days in Newborn Photography Heaven

After 4 years their are still things I want to improve and work on. My focus at this workshop was to work on lighting, editing and to pick up anything that could improve my sessions and workflow. The first day we had 2 newborn models. The first baby was a dream. She just slept through it all. For this portion we observed Lindsey pose but were able to photograph and practice camera angles. It was an eye opener for me to see how she angles her light source to get that beautiful lighting that I love in all her images. The second baby was a little stinker and didn’t want to sleep one bit. After feeling defeated from the second baby model we went to have some tacos and tequila. We all loved being able to talk about the one thing we are so passionate about.

The next day we had one model that the 4 of us attendees were able to practice a pose that we might struggle with. But baby number 3 wasn’t the best sleeper so we all struggled a little bit. After lunch we worked on some editing. Overall it was a great experience and I can see a difference in my sessions. Below are a few images from the workshop and sessions I have done since here at SGP. Enjoy!
